A resin detail accessory from the manufacturer ELEFANT in 1:35 scale. It corresponds to the late rendering of the idler wheel mount on the chassis of the Pz. IV tank and on the vehicles that were based on that chassis. It is a replacement for one part of the running gear, not a vehicle kit.
The tensioner determines how the track wraps the road wheels and how it sags between them. The late production batches differed from the earlier ones in the rendering of this assembly, so choosing the right variant decides whether a model matches the period being built. For a modeler it is also one of the few places where the difference between versions can be told even from a photograph of a finished model. Injected plastic simplifies the shape detail of the mount, because the mold has to open and deeper pressings get in the way. A resin casting is poured in one piece and the fine transitions and edges are preserved.
Always leave the running gear until after a dry fit of the whole hull. Put the part in place without glue, offer up the track or at least a piece of string and check that the run of the track comes out symmetrically on both sides. Only then glue, preferably with gel cyanoacrylate glue. Before that, degrease the parts in warm water with detergent and once dry spray them with primer, because resin is smooth and paint otherwise holds badly on it. When weathering, distinguish the grease around the axle from dry dust on the surrounding sheet metal, apply the wash and the pigments in layers and wipe the excess downward, the way water and mud ran down the real vehicle.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and it is not a kit in its own right. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
