This injection-molded plastic kit from Trumpeter represents the Canadian version of the LAV III wheeled combat vehicle in the TUA variant, that is with the TOW anti-tank missile system in an armor-protected turret. The model in 1:35 scale contains several sprues of plastic parts, photo-etched elements and rubber tires. The kit is meant to be assembled and painted.
The LAV III is an eight-wheeled (8x8) armored vehicle derived from the MOWAG Piranha family and adopted by the Canadian army. The TUA (Tow-Under-Armour) version replaces the standard turret with a launcher for TOW anti-tank guided missiles that can be operated under armor protection. The vehicle thus serves as a mobile anti-tank asset and is a close counterpart of similar versions in the Stryker family.
Assemble the chassis and the suspension first, and only then finish the hull and the turret with the launcher. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement, use a primer and apply the final shade with an airbrush. The weathering is completed by washes into the details and dust pigments on the tires and the underside of the vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
