Linden in 1:35 from Vertigo miniatures

This is a scenic accessory capturing linden foliage in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of a tree and not a kit: the leaves are glued to your own armature of a tree or a bush and scattered beneath the crown as fallen leaves. The heart-shaped leaf of the linden is so typical of the European landscape that it lends a scene a homely character. For dioramas with figures and vehicles in 1:35 scale it is a rewarding way to replace a generic green scatter with a particular, recognizable species.

Use

• Coat the branches of the armature of a tree with PVA glue or with thin cyanoacrylate glue.
• Lay the leaves on in smaller portions; the crown is to stay open to the light inside.
• Spread the rest over the ground, more densely by the trunk, along walls and in sheltered spots.
• Mix the shades and leave some of the leaves lighter, as if the sun had faded them.

Tips for a faithful result

Spread the leaves out on paper before gluing them and tone them lightly with thinned acrylic paint. In summer a linden has fresh green leaves, in autumn it turns a soft yellow, so richly red tones do not belong here. Compose the crown from the bottom upward and step back from the model as you go, so that you judge the silhouette as a whole. Fix the fallen leaves with thinned glue applied with a dropper and add small scatter around them, so that the transition into the terrain looks smooth.
