A masking accessory for painting road wheels, not a kit. The set gives the boundary between the rubber tire and the disk a ready-made shape and you only put it on, spray and take it off.
The set is cut for the wheels of the M1A1 and M1A2 kits from Tamiya. Wheel masks are tied to a particular kit, because the diameter of a wheel and the shape of the disk differ between manufacturers of kits.
Most trouble with masking does not arise during the application, but during the lifting. The choice is between two procedures and each has its limits.
Dry lifting is the standard and in the vast majority of cases the right choice. Peel the mask off slowly, bent back over itself at the smallest possible angle, not straight upward – a pull at a sharp angle takes the paint with it. The best moment is shortly after the paint sets and stops being soft, but still before it hardens completely; a mask left on too long is harder to lift and its margin can start to break. When a mask holds stubbornly, warming it briefly with mildly warm air helps.
Wet lifting, that is moistening the margin before peeling, suits only exceptionally and is always riskier. Moisture can wick under the mask and lift it in places where it should not yet, and with paints sensitive to water or to solvent there is a risk that the finished finish will soften as well. If you try it, verify the behavior of the paint on a waste part first, never straight on the wheels. In practice a simple rule holds: dry, slowly and at a shallow angle.
It is a masking accessory for modelers. The package holds neither a kit, wheels nor paints. Store the sheet flat and out of direct sunlight.
