Pmask 1:35 M1A2 SEP Abrams TUSK II, a masking set

This is not a kit but an accessory to one. The set holds self-adhesive masking templates machine-cut to the shape of the parts of one particular plastic kit of the M1A2 SEP Abrams tank in the TUSK II fit in 1:35 scale. The templates protect the chosen areas from the spray and are lifted off once the paint has dried.

Use

• Degrease the surface before applying the mask and let it dry completely.
• Press the edges of the mask down along their whole length, otherwise paint creeps under them.
• Apply thin coats, because on a modern single-color camouflage the edge is especially conspicuous.
• Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, not after the finish has fully cured.
• Wipe off adhesive residue with a soft damp swab.

The real subject

The M1A2 SEP is a modernized version of the American Abrams main battle tank with improved electronics, thermal imaging and a fire control system. The letters TUSK stand for a supplementary set of items for fighting in built-up areas, which adds among other things protection for the sides, cover for the commander's and the loader's stations and further equipment that raises the crew's protection. The TUSK II designation corresponds to the later, extended form of that set.

For modelers of modern armored vehicles in 1:35 scale who want accurate, clean boundaries for the spray without laborious masking with tape. It is useful above all when spraying with an airbrush and when masking clear or small parts.
