The Quickwheel 1:35 masking set for the wheels of the M3 Lee and Grant tank is cut for the MiniArt kit. It masks out the wheel rims so the tire band can be sprayed in one go.

An accessory for painting from Quickwheel. The masks stick onto the wheels from your kit, you spray the tire bands with an airbrush and masking out with a brush is done away with. According to its name the set is cut for the MiniArt kit — with wheel masks that is not a detail but the main parameter, because the wheel diameter differs between manufacturers by tenths of a millimeter and a mask has to seat exactly.
The M3 medium tank was given the same bogie suspension that the Sherman later took over: three bogies per side, in each a pair of small road wheels and above them a return roller seated directly on the bogie. The British Grant version differed from the American Lee in its turret; the running gear stayed the same. That is precisely why the M3 is demanding to mask — the wheels are small, sit deep under the tall flank of the hull and are partly shielded, so you reach them with a brush at an awkward angle. Spraying a tire band over a mask is considerably more certain in such a position than lining it by hand.
Clean the wheels, level the seams and spray the base shade. Lay the mask onto a dry finish, press it down around the circumference and spray in thin coats square to the rim. We recommend finishing the wheels before fitting them into the hull — masking is far harder on a completed running gear. A tire band color toward a dark gray looks truer than pure black.
This is a masking accessory. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
