Vinyl painting masks for the national insignia of the early B and C versions of the Panzer IV. The box carries one set of insignia masks; glazing masking is absent here by the very nature of the subject.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Panzer IV in the Ausf. B and C versions left the line before the fighting broke out and carried a short 7.5 cm gun twenty-four calibers long. It was a weapon built for high-explosive fire against pockets of resistance and against infantry, not for a duel with armor. The B version received a flat front plate without a machine gun port and a new commander's cupola; the C added a thicker gun mantlet to that. Both machines fought in Poland, in France and in the first months of the campaign in the east, before the long-barreled variants pushed them aside.
The set contains one set of masks for the national insignia. There is no glazing here to mask, and so the whole content concentrates on the shape of the cross. The vinyl is applied to a dry base coat, oversprayed in the shade of the insignia and lifted before the paint has fully cured. The edge then looks sprayed, because sprayed it is.
At this size the outline of the cross has room enough for even a thin border to stay legible. If the same subject were reduced to 1:48, the border would shrink below the limit at which an airbrush can still separate it. That is precisely why the larger scale holds for tanks and why masks make sense.
