The kit is fairly richly broken down, so it offers plenty of work even to more experienced modelers of modern equipment, which is covered less often than Second World War subjects.
The ZBD-04A is an improved version of the Chinese ZBD-04 tracked infantry fighting vehicle, in service with the ground forces of the People's Liberation Army. The vehicle combines an amphibious design with heavy turret armament and serves to carry an infantry squad and give it fire support. The improved variant differs from the original mainly in modifications to the hull and to the add-on protection.
With a tracked vehicle it pays to build and paint the running gear before you close the hull. Assemble the individual track links on a flat surface and let them cure properly, and only then fit them and let them sag naturally between the return rollers. Bend the photo-etched parts over a steel ruler or in a bending tool and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. The foundation is a primer, then the base camouflage color and then modulation, so that the large surfaces do not look flat. Apply the decals over a gloss base and build the weathering up gradually: a dark wash into the recesses, weathering pigments on the lower areas and muddy tracks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
