An unassembled and unpainted injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the maker Border Model. According to the title the package holds, besides the vehicle, a figure of a commander and figures of infantry, which makes the model a rewarding basis for a smaller diorama scene.
The designation Pz.Beob.Wg. IV, that is Panzerbeobachtungswagen IV, belongs to the armored artillery observation vehicle built on the chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. IV medium tank in the Ausf. J version. The task of these vehicles was not direct combat but observation and the direction of artillery fire from within a formation of armored units. Against an ordinary tank they differed above all in extended signals and observation equipment; the armament and the internal arrangement of the fighting compartment, which had to take in an observation station, were reworked as well. The Ausf. J version represents the late, simplified-for-production form of the Pz.Kpfw. IV chassis.
With tracked subjects, assemble and paint the running gear before you close the hull, because later you will no longer get to it. If the kit holds internal equipment, finish and paint it at the same stage. Lay a primer on the model and only then the covering shade, and build the paint up in thin coats. Bring the engraved details and the rivets out with a dark wash, use fine dust effects on the horizontal surfaces and pigments on the track runs and the underside of the hull. Paint the figures separately from the vehicle and put them in place only at the end, because the face and the hands deserve a procedure of their own with flesh tones.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
