An accessory, not a model. This is a resin casting of the rear armor part of the superstructure of the Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank in the Ausf.L version in 1:35 scale, which is fitted in place of the corresponding part of a plastic kit.
The rear wall of the superstructure separates the crew's fighting compartment from the engine section behind it. It is a load-bearing armor element with passages and openings for cooling and ventilation, and its design differed on the Pz.Kpfw. III between versions and production series. On a model it is an edge where the superstructure meets the engine deck, and it is precisely there that a plastic part tends to be weakest: the mold cannot give a sharp edge where the wall folds, so the edges come out softly rounded and the whole division is optically blurred.
The resin part comes with a thin casting remnant on the underside. Level that by sanding wet on fine paper laid on a sheet of glass: guide the part flat across the paper and turn it several times through ninety degrees, so that it is not sanded into a wedge. Wet sanding also gets rid of the dust and the shiny places that would show through under primer. Check the flatness of the surface against the light, as a gap under the part will reveal where material still remains. Seat the part only once it seats without pressure on both adjoining surfaces, and glue with cyanoacrylate glue. Before painting, go over the edges with a fine abrasive sponge block so that they are sharp but not rubbed through to white.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
