This is a complete detail set from the Polish manufacturer Aber, not a model of a tank. The set joins fine photo-etched frets with turned metal parts and wire sections and is intended for a model of the German heavy tank Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf.B (Sd.Kfz. 182) King Tiger with the early turret known as the Porsche. The metal parts replace plastic features that are too thick for the scale: the engine compartment grilles, the fenders, the tool brackets and the small fittings of the hull and the turret.
The Tiger II, commonly called the King Tiger, was the heaviest German tank put into series service in the Second World War. It carried an 88 mm gun with a long barrel and steeply sloped frontal armor. The first vehicles built received a turret with a rounded front and a scooped front wall, which in modeling practice is known as the Porsche turret. The shaping of the turret front created an unfavorable shot trap, so it was later replaced by the production Henschel turret.
Trim the parts off the fret with a sharp knife, bend them on a photo-etch bending tool or along a ruler and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the metal first and go over it with a primer. On a King Tiger it pays to detail the engine compartment and the fenders before the hull is finally closed.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
