Degrease the metal barrel before gluing and prime it, otherwise the paint will not hold. Bond it with super glue. Bring out the muzzle and the transitions with a fine wash and suggest wear with drybrushing.
The set is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package.
