A resin detail accessory from the manufacturer ELEFANT in 1:35 scale. According to the name of the product it contains eight shackles for the Panther and Jagdpanther vehicles. A shackle is a connecting link with a cross pin by which tow cables were secured on a vehicle and towing eyes were linked together. The set replaces simplified plastic parts and is intended for a model you already own.
The stowage of tow cables is one of the features by which a carefully built model can be told. On the real vehicle the cable was run along the side or across the rear and its end fittings were hooked into the eyes with shackles of exactly this kind. In a kit this area tends to be a compromise, because an injection mold cannot create a thin arm with a through hole. A resin casting reduces the section to a correct scale thickness and the model gains in credibility without your having to cut into the hull.
First plan where the cable will run, and only glue the shackles accordingly. Cut the cable with some margin, strengthen the ends with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue so that they do not unravel, and let them sag naturally. Cut the parts themselves off the casting block with a fresh blade, degrease them in warm water with detergent and let them dry. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, which you apply on the tip of a toothpick. Begin the painting with a dark base and fine-tune the metallic look by rubbing graphite along the edges. The cable and the shackles should always be a little darker and dirtier than the surrounding armor, otherwise they stand out visually from the model.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and it is not a kit in its own right. Paints, glue, cable and the base model are not included in the package.
