This is not a kit but a replacement accessory from the ELEFANT brand for a plastic model of the StuG III Ausf. G assault gun in 1:35 scale. It replaces the return rollers of the upper run of the track with a standard that the name assigns to production at the MIAG works after November 1943. The extent of the set is, according to the name, for one vehicle; the number of individual pieces in the package and the material are stated on the box.
The StuG III Ausf. G was produced at two works at the same time and the individual production series differed even in small parts of the running gear. A return roller is exactly such a part: the shape of the disk, the design of the hub and the way it is lightened all change. When you are building a particular machine from a period photograph, choosing the right type of roller is as essential as the shape of the side skirts or the design of the shield. The set from the box tends to be universal and not placed in time; this accessory, by contrast, aims at one particular standard.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent so that the residue of the mold release agent disappears from the surface, otherwise neither primer nor paint will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disk rather than with nippers for plastic: resin is brittle and a piece of the part is easily chipped off. Clean up the parting line with a file and a sanding sponge, ideally wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary plastic cement does not work on resin. Apply a primer before painting.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package. Before buying, check that the parts fit the model you have chosen.
