An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-72B main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Zvezda. The model captures the version with explosive reactive armor on the hull as well as the turret and comes with a tank crewman figure. The exact contents of the particular box, meaning the decals and the type of track, are given in the instructions inside.
The T-72B is the upgraded version of the proven Soviet T-72 main battle tank, which entered production in the middle of the 1980s. Compared with the older variants it received markedly heavier turret armor, an improved 125 mm smoothbore gun able to launch guided anti-tank missiles as well, and a set of explosive reactive armor blocks around the whole outline of the vehicle. That made it one of the best protected Soviet tanks of its day and in large numbers it formed the backbone of the armored units of the Soviet Union and of many other armies.
Assemble and fine-tune the running gear and the lower hull before closing and painting. The varied blocks of reactive armor are rewarding for shading and weathering: they come out with a dark wash in the gaps and a dry brush on the edges. Enliven the single-color green finish with panel variation and a gloss coat under the decals. Weather the running gear and the lower areas with heavy dust and mud pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
