Metal workable tracks for the ZTZ-99A in 1:35 scale. This is not a vehicle model but an accessory set: individual metal links replace the tracks from the box and give the model real weight and a natural sag.

This item is not a tank kit but an accessory for modelers. It holds metal track links that are assembled one by one and stay workable once put together, so the track can really be bent, laid over the wheels and left to sag naturally between the return rollers. The set is tailored to the model of the Chinese ZTZ-99A tank in 1:35 scale named in the product name.
The tracks are the most visible part of an armored vehicle model, and the plastic version from the box tends to be a compromise: either a soft one-piece band with no sharp edges, or stiff plastic links that are hard to shape. A metal set solves both. The links have sharp edges and full depth of detail, metal takes repeated bending and the weight of the track creates the sag by itself, which on light plastic you have to simulate laboriously. A metal surface also works with light differently, and once the treads are polished the wear looks convincing without a single drop of paint.
Degrease the links first, as metal castings tend to be greasy from manufacture. Assemble them in shorter runs on a flat surface and keep trying the track dry on the wheels, so that you do not discover the length is wrong only at the end. Metal needs a proper base: use a primer intended for metal surfaces, otherwise the paint will flake off when the track is bent. Paint the track off the model, then put a dark wash into the pressings, add shades of rust and finally polish the treads and the edges carefully so that the metal shows through. Dust the rest with pigments according to the setting the vehicle is meant to stand in.
This is an accessory set, not a vehicle model. The base kit, glue, primer and paints are not included in the package.
