The CCKW-352 version is the variant with a short wheelbase (SWB), a closed all-metal cab and a steel cargo bed. The kit offers a detailed cab and interior, a multi-part frame with chassis and suspension, a well-worked engine compartment, a front winch and photo-etched parts. The GMC CCKW, nicknamed the Deuce and a Half or the Jimmy, was the standard three-axle cargo truck of the American army. It served in large numbers in the Second World War and in the Korean War to carry troops, material and ammunition and became one of the symbols of Allied logistics. The version with the steel cargo bed replaced the earlier wooden one.
It is best to assemble and true up the frame, the suspension and the engine compartment before the cab and the cargo bed are closed up. Use thin modeling cement on the joints of the plastic parts, treat the surface with a primer coat and apply the olive finish with an airbrush. The weathering of mud and dust effects is built up with washes and pigments, and the texture of the steel cargo bed comes out with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
