1:35 Valentine Mk. II/IV with desert fenders is a photo-etched add-on set for a kit of the British infantry tank you already own, not a standalone model. The set is meant for 1:35 scale and comes from the Czech manufacturer Eduard.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory of photo-etched brass sheet serves to replace thick plastic parts with thin metal ones. It is precisely on the fenders, their brackets, grilles and small grab handles that the difference between plastic and photo-etched parts is seen the most: a metal part has a real thickness, can be bent and if need be convincingly dented as well. The set is aimed at the Mk.II and Mk.IV versions fitted with desert fenders.
The Valentine was a British infantry tank of the Second World War, produced in great numbers in Britain and in Canada and also supplied to a considerable extent to the Soviet Union. It was marked by a low silhouette, heavy armor for its weight category and a fairly cramped fighting compartment. The Mk.II and Mk.IV versions had a two-man turret and differed mainly in the engine used. For deployment in North Africa wide desert fenders were fitted to the vehicles, which limited the swirling of dust and covered the running gear.
Degrease the brass sheet first; fingerprints keep the paint from holding. Cut the parts out with a scalpel against a hard surface, not with scissors, which deform the metal. Bend the long fenders in a bender or at least between two steel rulers, so that they stay straight along their whole length. On more complicated shapes a brief annealing over a flame helps, after which the brass softens and stops springing. They are glued with cyanoacrylate in a really small amount, applied with a pin. Always lay a primer on metal and only then paint, otherwise the coat chips off during handling.
This is an add-on set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
