A detail set in 1:35 scale for refining the rear of the Willys MB light off-road vehicle. The resin casting covers the rear body panel and the tow hook, that is features that are clearly visible on a small open vehicle and tend to be simplified on a plastic kit. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a replacement part for a part-built model.
The product is intended for the Takom kit. That is bought separately.
The rear end of the Willys is not just a flat sheet: it carries the towing gear and a number of small pressed shapes that are hard to produce in injected plastic. The casting therefore brings sharper edges, thinner material and more legible detail. It pays off above all when the vehicle stands in a diorama with its rear toward the viewer or when the model is photographed from several angles.
Wash the castings in warm water with detergent and let them dry thoroughly. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface by wet sanding with respiratory protection. Trim the original plastic part back only as far as is needed for the resin panel to seat without strain; dry-fit, because thin sections break under forced pressure. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and fill the gaps with putty. After priming, a dark wash in the recesses around the tow hook and a fine patina work well; the rear of the vehicle tends in reality to be the dustiest, so pigments look natural here.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Before buying, check that the part fits the kit you are building.
