A wooden box for the command Pz.Bef.Wg. III Ausf. L in 1:35 scale from the ELEFANT brand, the type 1 form with engraved wood texture. An accessory for a plastic kit, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit of a vehicle, but a casting of an accessory in its own right. It represents a wooden box carried on the command version of the Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank, specifically on the Ausf. L form, and is designated as type 1. The surface has a modeled wood texture, so that after painting it does not look like a smooth block but like a nailed-up plank with growth rings and grooves.
The Panzerbefehlswagen III is the command conversion of the German Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank. Compared with the fighting version it carried extended radio equipment for directing a unit, which called for changes inside the turret and the fighting compartment and for the addition of antennas. In the field the vehicles were commonly supplemented with wooden boxes for personal gear and materiel, because the interior was filled with equipment and no room was left for the crew's personal belongings.
Wash the casting in warm soapy water and cut the casting block off with a saw; sand the surface with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Wood is painted in layers: a light ocher or sand base, over it an oil or acrylic glaze spread with a brush along the grain, and finally a dark wash in the joints between the planks. The texture of the surface deserves a dry brush in a lighter shade, which draws the edges out. At the end even it out with a matte varnish and add a little dust to match the weathering of the vehicle.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
