This item belongs to the range of small aircraft models in 1:350 scale that Trumpeter publishes as an accessory for models of aircraft carriers and other vessels. It is injection-molded plastic, supplied unassembled and unpainted. Because of the scale the model is very small, so it suits above all a deck, a hangar or a display case as part of a larger scene, not a building project in its own right.
The Martin BM was a carrier-based dive bomber of the US Navy from the beginning of the 1930s. It was a two-seat biplane with fixed landing gear and a radial engine, designed to drop a bomb from a steep dive. The BM-2 version belongs to the production forms of the type. Machines of this kind represent a developmental step between the biplanes of the 1920s and the later all-metal carrier bombers, and on models of interwar aircraft carriers they form characteristic deck equipment.
In 1:350 scale the model is literally miniature. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel or an etched file, not with nippers, which can deform a small casting. Glue drop by drop with a thin cement applied with a fine brush. The painting is best managed by an airbrush at low pressure, or by careful work with a fine brush; small markings in this scale are often suggested with nothing more than a dot of paint. Interwar American carrier aircraft are typically marked out by striking colored markings, which can be suggested with a very fine brush once the base coat has dried.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
