Aviattic: a five-color lozenge at 45 degrees, joined strips for the lower surfaces, the faded version, 1:48: a decal sheet with the diagonal polygonal pattern in faded tones; the counterpart to the version for the upper surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
An Aviattic decal sheet with the five-color lozenge pattern in the lighter tonal range of the lower surfaces, oriented diagonally at 45 degrees and with joined strips for the lower flying surfaces. The faded treatment matches fabric after longer service and forms a pair with the faded upper version of the same range.
The lower surfaces of German aircraft of the First World War were covered by a polygonal pattern in lighter shades than the upper surfaces carried. On some machines the widths of fabric were laid diagonally at 45 degrees. The sun, oil and weather gradually subdued the colors of the covering, so the faded version of the decal sits naturally with a weathered model and with the faded pattern on the upper surfaces, without having to spray the tones down laboriously with filters.
The joined strips go onto the underside of a wing in one piece; match the diagonal direction with the pattern of the upper surfaces so that it carries over at the leading edge. Work on a smooth glossy base and use softener to settle it. The lower surfaces are brought to life by faint traces of oil and exhaust in the direction of the airflow; close the whole with a matte clear coat. Add rib tapes from the matching sheet on a white backing.
This is a decal sheet, an accessory to a model. The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
