The A-10 is an American single-seat ground-attack aircraft intended to support ground forces. It is built literally around its main 30 mm cannon, which takes up a substantial part of the fuselage, and the pilot sits in an armored bathtub that protects him from fire from below. Its straight wing and low speed are an advantage, not a shortcoming: the machine stays over the battlefield for a long time and maneuvers at low altitude. The cockpit is usually well visible on a model, because the canopy is large and exposes the pilot's whole station.
These are parts etched from thin metal sheet, and the name limits them to the interior fittings. An etched part can be as thin as the scale would call for, which cannot be achieved in injection-molded plastic. Inside the cockpit this shows on the flat panels, thin walls and strips that in plastic are necessarily thicker than they should be. The scope of the parts and their placement on the model is given in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and level the remnant of the tab with a fine file. Make the bends in the scored line over a straight edge or in a bending tool, always in a single movement; bending back and forth repeatedly will crack the sheet. Metal is joined with super glue, and with epoxy over larger areas; polystyrene cement will not hold on it. Assemble and paint the inside of the cockpit before you glue the fuselage halves together; after that you cannot get inside. Wash the sheet before painting, degrease it and lay down a primer coat.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
