The Boeing B-17F in two forms: the machine 42-29953 with the code WF-F and the art Wolfess and the aircraft 42-3524 with the code GF-O and the name Vonnie Gal. A decal sheet for 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The B-17F form is the one American daylight bombing over Europe began with. Unlike later machines it had no turret under the nose and defended the forward sector with only a few hand aimed machine guns. This very weakness led to heavy losses in 1943 and in the end to the development of a further form. Against earlier series the F version brought a fully glazed nose without a frame and wider propeller blades.
The first aircraft is listed under serial number 42-29953, the code letters WF and the individual F; on the fuselage it carried the name Wolfess. The second has serial number 42-3524, the code GF with the letter O and the art Vonnie Gal. The code pairs before the hyphen denoted the squadron, the single letter after it the particular airframe within it.
The decals are waterslide. They are transferred onto gloss varnish, straightened with a soft brush and left to dry without being touched. The code letters on the sides of the fuselage are large in this scale, so it is advisable to check that they are vertical against the panel lines before the film sets. Cutting each letter off separately and settling them one at a time also proves itself, because a continuous strip twists easily on the curve of the fuselage and a straight line can no longer be recovered.
