A turned barrel for the Tiger II in 1:48 scale from Aber, of 8.8 cm caliber, for the production turret. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel of 8.8 cm caliber in 1:48 scale for a model of the German heavy tank Tiger II in the form with the production turret. This is not a kit but a replacement for a plastic part. On this tank the barrel is almost as long as the whole hull, so even a slight bend in the plastic part is immediately visible on the finished model.
The Tiger II combined massive sloped armor with a long gun of 8.8 cm caliber that hit targets at ranges where the opponent could not yet reply. The early vehicles had a turret with a rounded front wall; the production turret replaced it with a flat front, which was easier to make and stood up to a hit better. The vehicle was very heavy, it used a lot of fuel and its mobility matched that.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the turret as possible and drill the mating surface so that the pin of the metal barrel seats firmly but does not pass right through. Degrease the metal with alcohol and apply primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It is glued with super glue, that is with cyanoacrylate, drop by drop. Fit the barrel only at the end of the build, so that it does not bend during handling, and check its axis by looking from the front while the glue sets. In 1:48 scale dose the glue with the tip of a wire, not straight from the bottle.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
