A small photo-etched metal kit of a park bench in 1:48 scale from Aber. It serves as furniture for dioramas and vignettes, where it will complete a street, a railway station, a park or a farmyard. The etched metal makes it possible to capture the slender profile of the back, the legs and the individual slats of the seat at a thickness that a plastic molding could not stand up to in this scale. It is neither a model of a vehicle nor a figure.
Diorama furniture gives a scene scale and a civilian context. A bench says at once that the scene is set in an inhabited place, and it offers a natural spot for figures. The type A form is general-purpose and suits a European setting of either half of the twentieth century.
Nip the parts from the fret, clean them up and bend them along the scored lines, and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a base coat. The wooden slats of the seat and the back come out well after painting in a brown shade and going over them with an oil glaze, while the metal frame will take a darker shade and a light hint of rust from pigments.
An accessory for building dioramas. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
