Masking set with decals for the Messerschmitt Bf 109F-2 in 1:48 scale. It contains a cut for both sides of the glazing and one version of the shapes for the national marking.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item differs from the neighboring numbers with the same subject in the extent of the insignia sheet: it carries one version of the shapes, while two earlier numbers of the series offer twice as many. For building a single model that makes no difference; the gap shows only when the spraying does not come off and there is no material left for a repeat.
The F-2 version accompanied the advance to the east in the summer of 1941 and its pilots collected most of the scores of that period there. The DB 601N engine called for fuel with a higher octane rating, which was in short supply at field units, so the machines were often operated at reduced power. The cannon in the propeller axis was of 15 mm caliber and only the later F-4 received the more effective 20 mm weapon.
The cockpit of the Bf 109 opened to the side and the whole frame of the hinged panel is therefore visible from both sides at once on a finished model. It is here that hand-drawn lining shows up most often, because the eye compares both edges side by side. A cut shape removes that discrepancy.
