Masks for the canopy and the national insignia of the most widespread version, the Bf 109G-6, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The G-6 version became the most numerous form of the whole type and you can recognize it at first glance. Heavier machine guns of 13 mm caliber were fitted into the fuselage ahead of the cockpit, but their breeches would not fit under the original skin. The designers therefore added two prominent fairings, and because German pilots simply called them bulges, the name caught on for the whole version.
From the spring of 1943 this form carried the main weight of the fighting on every front. Over Germany it climbed against American daylight bomber formations, which is why many machines received cannon in gondolas under the wings and sometimes rockets as well, meant to break up the formations from a safe distance. Every such added weapon took away from maneuverability, though, so aircraft armed that way became prey for the escort fighters themselves. In the east, by contrast, most pilots lightened the armament. Late examples received a new canopy with a far better view to the rear, because the original framing had made that view all but impossible.
The cockpit gets two masks, the national insignia one. The shape of the parts follows the individual panels of the heavily framed canopy, which is among the most laborious parts of the whole build.
On this machine the canopy frames were often painted a different color inside than outside. The inner mask is therefore not pointless; on the contrary, it makes the greatest difference when you look into an open cockpit.
