A sheet of decals in 1:48 scale with markings for the Grumman Cougar jet in the blue and yellow finish of the US Navy Blue Angels display squadron. In the package you will find the decals and an instruction sheet with the color schemes; the kit, paints and glue are not part of it. Furball Aero-Design is an American decal publisher specializing in the aviation of the US Navy, who puts weight on accurate artwork, color registration and thin carrier film.
The Grumman F9F Cougar came about as the swept-wing development stage of the straight-wing Panther. The new wing moved the usable speed markedly higher and the Cougar took its place among the first-generation carrier jets in the service of the US Navy. In the mid-1950s the Blue Angels display squadron also moved on to Cougars, and the two-seat variant then flew in the unit's colors long afterwards. A dark blue finish set off by yellow lettering and lines is among the most demanding, but at the same time the most rewarding modeling finishes.
A deep blue surface forgives no imperfections: a perfectly smooth gloss clear coat belongs under the decals, or silvery patches will appear under the carrier film. Trim the motifs as close as possible so that the edge of the film is not visible. Leave the decal in water only briefly; soaked too long, it tears. Seat longer lettering and lines in sections, push the air out with a cotton swab from the center to the edges, and help with a decal softener where there are rivets and transitions. Once everything has dried, go over the whole model with a final clear coat — semi-matte for an operational look, gloss for a polished machine from a display performance.
This is an add-on decal sheet for a kit you already own. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
