This is a set of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the Czech publisher ROP o.s. It is not an aircraft model but an aftermarket set of markings for building a model of the British Boulton Paul Defiant fighter. This release concentrates on night fighter operations, when the Defiant flew in a dark night camouflage finish and hunted raiders over Britain.
With its dorsal machine gun turret the Defiant proved vulnerable in the daylight fighting of 1940, but once the squadrons were re-equipped it found a successful role as a night fighter. In the dark its four-gun turret was able to attack bombers from below and behind. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine.
The decals are intended for the widely available plastic models of the Defiant in 1:48 scale. Dark night camouflage calls for a particularly smooth gloss coat under the decals so that no silvering occurs. Softeners help them settle; a final matte varnish unifies the surface.
This is a set of decals (aftermarket markings), not a model. The aircraft model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
