The transport C-47A in Polish military as well as civil service, four marking variants on a sheet in 1:48 of the years 1945 to 1957.
Responsibility details are not available.
The twin-engine C-47A came out of a prewar transport aircraft and became the most widespread transport of the Second World War. A robust airframe, reliable radial engines and the ability to put down on a makeshift strip secured it a career that by no means ended in 1945. Hundreds of machines went over to civil carriers after the war and flew for long decades more.
The first two aircraft on the sheet are military. The older one with a fuselage number in white served in 1945 with the 6th independent transport squadron, the second with a number in red belonged in 1947 to a special government squadron. The remaining two variants are civil machines of the Polish carrier with registrations beginning with the code SP, operated roughly from 1950 to the second half of the 1950s. A modeler can therefore choose between a uniform military appearance and a striking civil livery.
The civil registrations are long and run across the windows as well as the pressed stiffening beads. It pays to apply them one character at a time where the drawing allows it, and to check the spacing against a profile as you go. Once settled, draw the water out from under the film with gentle pressure from the center toward the edges.
