Responsibility details are not available.
A set of realistic cockpit seat belts for models of the American Curtiss P-40 fighter, known under the names Warhawk and Kittyhawk, in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the airplane, but a detail accessory from the Czech manufacturer HGW. The belts are of fine microtextile with photo-etched metal buckles and reproduce cloth straps faithfully, with a natural sag.
The P-40 was an American fighter with an Allison V12 engine, deployed in practically every theater of the Second World War. It became famous for the shark mouth marking of the units operating in Asia and North Africa. Although it fell behind at high altitude, its toughness and availability let it serve with many Allied air forces.
Shorten the microtextile straps to the length needed, crumple the cloth lightly and smooth it again for a realistic shape. Thread them through the photo-etched buckles and glue them to the seat with PVA glue (white glue). Do not use super glue, as it could stiffen or mark the fabric. The belts are pre-toned and resist the ordinary preparations; they will also take a discreet patina. In 1:48 scale, tweezers and a steady hand pay off.
The accessory does not include the model itself, glue or paints. It is intended for completing an existing kit.
