de Havilland Vampire F.3 1:48 - an Eduard masking set contains pre-cut kabuki paper masks for spraying the glazing frames from the outside. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is a masking set in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, not a model of the aircraft. The masks are cut precisely from kabuki paper, a thin Japanese masking material that follows the curvature of a canopy and leaves no adhesive on the surface once removed. This is the standard form of the set, intended for masking the glazing from the outside; the manufacturer also makes a variant designated TFace, which allows masking from the inside as well.
The Vampire has a characteristic teardrop canopy with prominent frames, and masking it by hand takes a great deal of time. Pre-cut masks are simply popped out of the sheet and stuck on, so the frames come out sharp and of even width. In 1:48 scale the glazing is large enough for every inaccuracy to show at once, so an accurate mask pays off twice over.
Modelers building early jet aircraft in 1:48 scale will appreciate it, and so will everyone who wants the glazing and the skin cleanly separated. The set is suitable for less experienced builders too, because it removes the step on which an otherwise successful model most often comes to grief.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. Check beforehand that the set matches the kit you are building.
