A decal sheet from the Czech manufacturer AML in 1:48 scale brings markings for the Gloster Gladiator fighters used by the Swedish volunteer Wing F 19 during the Winter War in Finland. An unusual and historically interesting subject with which you can set your model apart from the ordinary British Gladiators.
When the Soviet Union attacked Finland at the turn of 1939 and 1940, Swedish volunteers formed an air unit of their own designated F 19. Its main equipment was the Gloster Gladiator biplane fighter from Swedish stocks, designated J 8A in Sweden. The unit operated in the freezing conditions of northern Finland, where its pilots flew fighter and ground attack sorties against the Soviet Air Force. It is one of the most interesting chapters in the career of this elegant biplane.
On a biplane we recommend planning the order of work in advance: apply the markings to the lower wing before you complete the model, which spares you working in the narrow space between the wings. Prepare the base with gloss varnish, transfer the decals from lukewarm water and fine-tune them with a decal softener. Once dry, coat over with a flat varnish that matches the period appearance.
