Eduard 1:48 Do 17Z stencils is a decal set with technical markings and service stencils for a model of the Dornier Do 17Z bomber in 1:48 scale. It is a supplement to the decals from the kit.

A decal set focused on technical markings, that is on the small service texts, filler point markings, warning stripes and arrows that are scattered all over the surface of the real aircraft. Most kits either leave them out altogether or give them coarsely and incompletely. The set is intended for a model of the Dornier Do 17Z in 1:48 scale and supplements the decals you find in the box. Eduard is a Czech manufacturer from Obrnice near Most. A model of the aircraft is not included in the package.
The Dornier Do 17 is a German twin-engine bomber of the Second World War period, nicknamed the Flying Pencil for its slender fuselage. The Z version is a late production form with a reworked, glazed and widened front fuselage section, into which the whole four-man crew fitted together, and with radial engines. It is precisely the glazed nose and the paneled fuselage that give the technical markings plenty of places to stand out.
Technical markings are applied at the very end of painting and have rules of their own. The surface must be glossy, because a decal laid on a matte varnish traps air in the microscopic irregularities and a silvery veil appears around the print. So spray a clear gloss varnish, let it cure, and only then get to work. Cut the decal as close to the print as possible so that the carrier film does not overhang needlessly. Dip it in water only briefly, just until it releases, and move it with a brush, not with tweezers. On broken surfaces use a decal softener: first a milder product to settle it, then after drying a stronger one if needed to draw it into the engraved lines and edges. Never press into a decal while the softener is wet, as the film would wrinkle and tear. Once it has dried, wipe the remains of the adhesive off with a damp cloth and even the whole model out with a matte varnish, which hides the edges of the film for good.
