A set of machine-cut self-adhesive masks in 1:48 scale for models of the Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano turboprop aircraft. According to the name it covers the cockpit glazing and the wheel hubs. It is not a kit — the set is intended for the painting stage of a model already under construction. Furball Aero-Design is an American maker of accessories who, besides jet subjects, also covers light combat and training machines.
The Super Tucano is a Brazilian turboprop aircraft derived from the Tucano trainer. It is intended for advanced training, light attack work and patrol duties, where low operating costs and the ability to work from simpler airfields are valued. The crew consists of two men in tandem under long glazing that runs across a large part of the fuselage. It is precisely this glazed part of the cockpit with its several frames that is the most laborious place on the model — and the main reason a masking set pays off.
With a long glazed cockpit it pays to work segment by segment rather than trying to apply everything at once. Before you start, lay the masks on dry and check that the frames match the shape of the part. Apply the film from a fixed point, for example from the rear edge, and unroll it gradually by settling it. In places where the frame bends, it is better to use two shorter masks than one bent one. Spray the frames with the interior shade first, then with the outer finish. Take the masks off in the order in which you applied them, and always after the paint has set.
This is an add-on set for a kit you already own. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
