Eduard F-106 Delta Dart 1:48, set of painting masks

This is a set of self-adhesive painting masks, cut from Japanese kabuki tape, from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:48 scale. The masks serve for accurate, clean spraying of the frames of the cabin glazing and usually of the wheel discs as well on the plastic model of the F-106 Delta Dart. It is neither a kit nor a set of decals but an aftermarket accessory for painting, used while building the matching model. The model itself is obtained separately.

The real subject

The Convair F-106 Delta Dart was an American single-seat supersonic interceptor of the Cold War era. Its distinguishing mark was the cantilever delta wing. The aircraft formed the backbone of the interceptor air defense of the United States and was designed to climb fast and engage incoming bombers with guided missiles carried in an internal weapons bay.

Use

• The masks are transferred from the backing sheet and stuck onto the clear cabin glazing following the shape of the frames.
• The transitions are pressed down so that paint does not run under the edge, and the area is oversprayed with an airbrush.
• Once dry, the masks are lifted off; kabuki tape keeps its shape and leaves no adhesive.
• Masks for the wheel discs are usually included, for easy separation of the tire from the rim.
