Grumman F7F-3 / F7F-3N Tigercat Basic kabuki masks 1:48 (New Ware)

This is NOT a model but a set of self-adhesive masks from New Ware for a plastic kit of the American Grumman F7F Tigercat fighter (the F7F-3 and F7F-3N versions) in 1:48 scale. The masks are cut from Japanese washi (kabuki) masking paper and give a sharp color border. The Basic version is the basic set: masks for the outer frames of the canopy glazing, the other clear parts and the wheel hubs.

The real subject

The F7F Tigercat was an American twin-engine heavy fighter for carrier and land use from the end of the Second World War, with powerful radial engines. It was among the fastest piston fighters of its day and it saw only limited combat. The F7F-3N night version carried radar, had a lengthened nose and was adapted for work in the dark.

Use

• Sticking them onto the outer frames of the glazing before spraying
• Masking the wheel hubs according to the instructions supplied
• Sharp color borders with no bleeding under the mask
• The paper conforms well to the shape and lifts off easily once the paint has dried

Who it is for

For modelers building the Grumman Tigercat in the F7F-3 or F7F-3N version in 1:48 scale who want the canopy frames and the wheels sprayed quickly and cleanly. The basic Basic version is within reach of a less experienced modeler too.

An add-on set of masks, not a standalone model. The kit and the paints are not included in the package.
