A resin detail set, not an aircraft model. The set contains faithfully cast control surfaces of the F8F Bearcat fighter, which can be fitted on a model in a deflected position and so bring a static build to life. The set is intended for kits of this aircraft in 1:48 scale and pushes the detail beyond the level of the plastic from the box.
The Grumman F8F Bearcat was an American single-seat carrier fighter of the end of the Second World War. Its compact airframe with a powerful radial engine made it one of the most agile piston fighters of its day; it saw practically no combat in the Second World War, however, and served mainly in the postwar years.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release residue from the mold. Cut off the casting blocks carefully with a saw and level the surfaces; wear a respirator when sanding resin, as the dust is harmful. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with ordinary plastic cement. Apply a base primer before painting.
