Fern in 1:48 scale is a scenic accessory from the Vertigo miniatures brand, a set of precisely cut leaves for creating woodland undergrowth in a diorama. It is not a model kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plant parts for dioramas and vignettes in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an airplane or of a vehicle but an accessory with which you fill the shaded and damp places of a scene: undergrowth beneath trees, the foot of a rock, the edge of a forest track or the cover of a camouflaged position. The parts are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Ferns have intricate, many times divided fronds growing from a single crown and grow where it is damp and shaded, in woodland undergrowth, by streams, on north-facing slopes and among stones. Their characteristic silhouette calls up the impression of a wood at once; in a diorama a few clumps are therefore enough and the scene moves legibly into a woodland setting.
Take the fronds out of the sheet carefully and clean them up with a new blade; the fine projections are fragile, so work with tweezers and without pressure. Bend every frond slightly into an arc before gluing, the way a fern naturally grows, and compose the clump so that the fronds point in various directions. Glue with gel cyanoacrylate glue. Paint over a thin acrylic primer, with a medium green as the base, a lighter spray from above to accent it and a brown wash into the middle of the clump. Suggest dry fronds on the edge of the clump with ocher paint, as a fern tends to be a little dead at the foot.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
