A conversion set in 1:48 scale for rebuilding the model of the German Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank into the flamethrower version.
Responsibility details are not available.
The flamethrower version of the German Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank came about by adapting the production chassis for fighting in built-up terrain and against fortifications. In place of the gun it has a projector for the flammable mixture, and the supply of fuel for it is carried inside the hull. From the outside the machine differs from an ordinary Pz.Kpfw. III in only a few details, mainly in the execution of the barrel and its mounting, which makes it a rewarding subject for a rebuild.
This is a conversion set, that is, parts with which a finished kit is rebuilt into a different version of the vehicle. Such a set usually holds the sections that change on the model, while the rest of the hull and the running gear stays from the kit. Which parts are replaced and what is cut away from the original model is described in the instructions enclosed with the set.
First offer the parts up dry on the model and think through the order of work; with conversions you often have to cut into assemblies that are already glued. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder flat. Choose the glue to suit the material of the parts; super glue holds reliably. Before painting, wash and degrease the whole model, so that the base coat holds equally well on the parts from the kit and on the parts from the set.
The rebuild assumes a steady hand at cutting and sanding, so the set suits rather more advanced builders. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
