Big Ed is a set of several separate Eduard detail sets brought together in one box for a particular Fw 190A-6 kit in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a set of accessories. It usually takes in color photo-etched parts for the interior (instrument panel, belts, cockpit details), photo-etched parts for the exterior and a self-adhesive masking film for the canopy and the wheels. The aim is to lift the level of detail markedly above the bare kit.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-6 was the fighter version of the German Fw 190 from the period of the Second World War, powered by an air-cooled radial engine. It stood out for a rugged structure, good firepower and toughness; the A-6 version brought among other things changes to the armament and the wing.
The color photo-etched interior parts can be glued straight on; bend the other photo-etched elements carefully on a firm surface. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply the masks before spraying the glazing and the wheels, which will give sharp transitions with no paint seeping under.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
