A photo-etched add-on set for a model of the British Hawker Hunter F.4 fighter in 1:48 scale. The metal parts refine the places where the plastic from the kit is too thick.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hunter is a British jet fighter of the 1950s. A swept wing, a long slender fuselage and a cockpit set high made it a machine that is easy to recognize even in silhouette. Besides the Royal Air Force, dozens of operators in many countries used it and some aircraft stayed in service until the 1980s. The F.4 is one of its versions.
Etched metal parts are useful where the thickness of the material is visible on a finished model and injection-molded plastic looks disproportionately massive. The set therefore does not change the shape of the whole model, but it changes the impression of the details the eye notices first. It is one of the quickest ways to take a build up a level. The extent of the set and the kit in 1:48 scale it is drawn for are named by the manufacturer in the instructions and on the box, so check them before buying.
Have a sharp blade, a hard surface, tweezers with smooth jaws and a fine file ready. Cut the parts off, and never break them out, and level the remains of the tabs. Make the fold along the etched groove and press along the whole length of the edge. Glue the metal with super glue in the smallest of amounts, ideally applied with the tip of a toothpick. Before painting, the surface has to be degreased and sprayed with a base coat, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth metal and will rub off during handling.
The package holds a photo-etched set. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
