Photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the British Jet Provost jet trainer, intended for the Fly kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Jet Provost is a British jet trainer on which whole generations of Royal Air Force pilots went through basic training. It came about by reworking an older piston-engined trainer, it has a straight wing and side-by-side seats, so the instructor sits beside the student and can see their hands. It is precisely the two-seat cockpit that is most on show on a model.
These are photo-etched metal parts intended for the Fly kit in 1:48 scale. Etching makes it possible to produce features in a thickness that injected plastic cannot reach, and with sharp edges. The set thus replaces selected plastic parts of the model with a finer rendering. Which parts those are and in what order they are fitted is described in the instructions supplied; some plastic parts are removed from the model in the process, so familiarize yourself with the instructions before building.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with nippers. Make the bends along the etched score lines, best in a bending tool or over the edge of a ruler, and in one movement. Use super glue to join them, as cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Degrease the parts before painting and spray them with a base coat; without one the paint rubs off smooth metal during handling.
The set suits modelers who want the cockpit and other visible areas in a believable thickness and who do not mind working with tweezers. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
