Decals in 1:48 for the Junkers Ju 88A-4 bomber. The sheet is devoted to a single machine flown by one of the best known German bomber commanders.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Junkers Ju 88 entered service as a fast medium bomber and ended up as the basis for night fighters, reconnaissance machines and remotely guided aircraft. The A-4 form brought a lengthened wing, more powerful engines and increased bomb load, thanks to which it became the most widespread bomber variant. It served over England, in the Mediterranean and deep in the east, and it essentially never became obsolete.
The manufacturer's data for this item names a single aircraft with a code beginning with a pair of letters and a numeral, assigned to the third Gruppe of the thirtieth bomber Geschwader and dated 1942. At its controls sat an officer who was among the most decorated pilots of the bomber arm and who after the war also became known as the author of specialist texts on the air war. These are therefore markings with a very specific story, not an anonymous production machine.
The large surfaces of a twin engine bomber give decals a chance to stand out, but at the same time they forgive no mistakes. Always lay the fuselage code down one character at a time and measure the spacing, because the eye spots an irregularity immediately. Under characters placed across the glazing of the cockpit we recommend using a weaker concentration of solution, so that the film does not ripple over the frames.
Anyone building this type for the first time will appreciate that the single scheme on the sheet relieves the build of decisions and lets all the attention go to the finish of the airframe.
The package consists of the decal sheet alone. The bomber model has to be bought separately.
