A set of photo-etched parts for the model of the Lockheed F-104J Starfighter interceptor in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
You can recognize the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter at first glance by its slender fuselage and short straight wings with a sharp leading edge. The F-104J version served the Japan Air Self-Defense Force as an interceptor and was made under license in Japan itself.
The photo-etched elements are made of thin sheet, so they have sharp edges and almost no thickness. On a model they therefore come in useful where a plastic part looks clumsy: on small flat features and fine elements that cannot be made in plastic. The exact list of parts and their placing on the model are given in the instructions of the manufacturer. The set is intended for a model in 1:48 scale; check which kit it is cut for in the data of the manufacturer and compare it with the model you are building.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with cutters, and level the remains of the tab off with a file. Make the bends over a straight edge or in a bender in one movement; repeated bending tires the metal and the part breaks. They are glued with cyanoacrylate or two-part glue applied in a minute amount, best of all with a pin. Before painting, degrease the surface and use a base coat intended for metal, as the layer otherwise scuffs off easily. Line the small parts up on a light surface as you work so that they do not get lost.
A set of photo-etched parts is supplied. The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
