A masking set in 1:48 scale for the model of the Lockheed F-104J Starfighter fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was a supersonic fighter with a cigar-shaped fuselage, a single jet engine and an unusually short, thin wing with sharp leading edges. The design aimed at the highest possible speed and rate of climb, and the behavior of the machine matched that, demanding precision from its pilots. The F-104J version was the fighter variant for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and was made in Japan under license.
Pre-cut masks for spraying a model in 1:48 scale. The range of elements and the kit the masks fit are stated in the instructions of the manufacturer in the package. The masks replace cutting tape by hand, which is a slow business with the thin wing and narrow cockpit of the Starfighter.
The masks are stuck on before spraying, onto a surface that is clean, degreased and dry. Press every element down around its whole perimeter, above all in the corners and on the curves, so that paint does not run under the edge. Apply thin coats and lead the nozzle from the edge of the mask inward, not across the edge. Remove the mask as soon as the paint has set, not after it has hardened completely, when it risks taking the varnish with it. Pull the film back at an angle toward yourself and help yourself with pointed tweezers or a toothpick so that the clear parts do not get scratched.
The set is for modelers who want sharp transitions with no laborious cutting of tape and no paint running under the edge. The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
