New Ware Mask J-15 Flying Shark ADVANCED 1:48

A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the model of the J-15 in 1:48 scale, the ADVANCED version. In this range it stands between the basic BASIC extent and the widest EXPERT extent — it covers more areas than the basic set, but not as many as the top version. The package holds masks exclusively.

Why the inner side of the canopy is masked as well

The frames of the cockpit are painted on the inside in the interior shade, not in the top camouflage. If they are painted only from the outside, the color of the outer side can be seen through the clear plastic once the canopy is open, and the frame looks translucent and flat. Masking from both sides therefore makes a fundamental difference on a model with an open cockpit — and that is exactly where the higher levels of these sets differ from the basic one.

How to go about it

• Apply and spray the inner side first and only then the outer one, as the inside is harder to reach with the spray.
• Choose the interior shade according to the kit used, as on modern machines it tends to differ from the color of the airframe.
• Leave enough time for drying between coats, as fresh paint comes away when another mask is applied over it.
• While working, hold the canopy by its edge or by the sprue gate, not by the surface.
• Take the masks off at an angle across the edge, and on long strips gradually in sections.

Who the ADVANCED version is for

For modelers who want to build the model with an open cockpit and need to mask the inner side as well, but do not need the widest extent of the top version. It is a sensible middle ground in the reach of the set, especially when you are building the model without further accessories and want to take the result furthest in the cockpit.

The package contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
