The photo-etched set Eduard 1:48 MiG-23ML F.O.D. holds metal covers for the air intakes of a parked aircraft and follows on from the resin set of intakes of the Brassin line.
Responsibility details are not available.
This product is not a kit of an aircraft but an accessory of photo-etched metal. The designation F.O.D. refers to protecting the engine against the entry of foreign objects: as long as the machine stands on the apron its air intakes are covered, and the covers are removed only before takeoff. The set is prepared to work together with the resin set of air intakes of the Brassin line, which the metal parts follow in shape. The maker is Eduard, a Czech firm from Obrnice near Most, which has been devoted to photo-etched parts for a long time.
The MiG-23ML was a lightened and aerodynamically refined version of the Soviet fighter aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, aimed at better agility and performance in maneuvering combat. Machines of this line were widespread in the air forces of the Warsaw Pact and beyond. The detail of covered air intakes gives a model on the ground believability and at the same time hides the mouths of the ducts.
Cut the photo-etched parts off with a scalpel or with special shears against a firm surface and clean the edges up with a file. For the bends use a bender or two blades, so that a sharp fold comes out. Degrease the metal and cover it with a primer meant for metal, otherwise the paint holds badly. For joining, use super glue, or thin epoxy, which gives time for fine-tuning the position of the part.
The set is an accessory for a kit and is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the kit itself are not included in the package.
