The theme

The sheet is put together around the machines of night fighter aces, that is of the pilots who collected their victories in the dark. Night fighting was a different discipline from daylight combat: the aircraft was directed by ground stations and, from a certain time, by an airborne radar as well, the attack was made from close in and from behind, and the machines carried dark finishes and additional armament. The markings of such aircraft are therefore distinctive, from national insignia of reduced contrast to the personal emblems of the pilots.

What the sheet contains

Which particular machines and in which variants are worked out on the sheet is given in the enclosed instructions. The placing of the individual motifs on the model follows from them as well, because the position of the numbers and insignia differs from machine to machine. It pays to go through the instructions before painting, because some of the markings may run into the camouflage.

How it is applied

With ordinary sheets the wet method is used:

• first spray the surface of the model with gloss clear and let it dry
• cut the motif out together with a narrow margin of the backing and soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds
• once it has rested, slide the motif off the backing into place and guide it with a brush
• draw off the excess water and let it dry without touching it, then even the surface out with a matte clear coat

Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive standard. A soaked self-adhesive film is ruined, whereas an unsoaked waterslide decal can be soaked later.
